Weekend tourist stay

A great stay in all categories! Plenty of gushie pillows that made for a comfortable sleep. The breakfast and restaurant service was excellent. The view was amazing. The elevators were quick. Staff was pleasant and quick to meet our every request.

Overnight Business Trip

The staff in the hotel are very friendly starting with the front desk at check in. My server in the restaurant was prompt, friendly and attentive. And the hotel is situated in a great area close to the docks and to shopping and restaurants.

Quality accommodation

We were only here one night in transit but in hindsight should have stayed longer. Check-in was simple with the ability to leave the car out the front while getting luggage to the rooms, and then parking was also very simple just around the corner to the parking garage which had a connecting elevator and entry to the hotel.

We were on the 14th floor and the view was very nice. The room was well proportioned and very clean. The King size bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a reasonable size. If there had been a microwave in the room I would have awarded five dots.

The restaurant is open until 10pm which was great for us as we were late arriving. Food was good for both dinner and breakfast.

Can recommend this as a great place to stay.

Wonderful hotel in town center

The Coast Bastion’s wonderful staff helped our stay in Nanaimo. The room was spacious, clean, and reflected the photos I saw online. Honestly deserves the high rating of the hotels in Nanaimo it has (as of this writing).

The balcony we had was tiny, but I don’t think we ordered that with our room, just a view of the sea.

The restaurant downstairs is decent, and the bar / wait staff helped us out a lot deciding what to do / where to go.

Everything was as expected, and the value we got enhanced my overall opinion of the hotel. (Great value).

Gone Downhill

Used to love this hotel, but it must be under new management cutting corners. Once you get beyond the pretty lobby and new elevator, you notice the dirty hallways and neglected rooms in need of paint, new wall paper, updated AC/heat units (at least on Floor 3). Lots of finger marks on the doors, food stains on walls, bubbled wall paper, rough sheets from over use, chipped glasses. Pet-friendly, but more restrictive than before (5th floor not available), so maybe pet rooms are less tended to, even though pet owners pay the same rates, plus an additional fee. And, don’t use the stairwell, it will creep you out – filthy with discarded furniture. What the what??? No microwave or fridge, but you can request a fridge. Great about storing luggage after check-out. Bell hops and location are the best assets of this hotel.
