Walking distance to the sea wall and conference centre. Clean and quiet. I liked the ocean view. It was what you would expect for the price, but nothing oohed and aahed us. Parking was annoying. We had drinks at the restaurant, it was nice but a bit too bright. Didn’t spend much time in the hotel as I was in and out for a conference.
Wonderful overnight stay, Will be staying here again!
It’s cost $9.00 to stay here for 24 hours. It’s a reasonable price for share Public Parking Lot. Sea-Tac Doubletree Hotel own by Hilton charge $21.00 for 1 day parking. So, I’m not making a big deal for $9.00!! You can stay at the Best Western for free parking, YOU better read the Google’s Reviews before you jump on it. The rooms are clean, front desk staff friendly and helpful. The onsite Minnoz Restaurant is fine. The only drawbacks is the Dinner Menu is expensive. There are a other Restaurants within walking distance with less expensive prices. Minnoz charge $34.00 for Baby Back Ribs, l can get the same dish in my hometown for $24.50 – $24.99. Breakfast Menu are fair price. In the future I will stay in this hotel again, close to Port Theatre, walking distance to downtown, plenty of parking spaces if you return late from a outing.

Best place to stay in downtown Nanaimo
The Coast Bastion is like an old best friend. You always know what you’re getting, they have your back, go the extra step for you, are reliable, unpretentious and authentic…and chances are that Ian will check you in!
We always seem to get caught mid-island without an overnight plan and many times in the past twenty-five years have ended up in this tower on the waterfront whether for business or pleasure. They still impress on all fronts, particularly the outstanding upgrades and renovations that hold up so well against any competition. We booked spontaneously on a long weekend through Hotwire, though the hotel itself has several impressive Fall specials on in this shoulder season. Totally renovated rooms, chic furnishings, immaculate bright bathrooms, eco friendly products, comfortable beds, quality linens, perfect pillows, room darkening shades, a wee balcony, great views, sustainable practices, and serenity.
Over the years we’ve enjoyed several incarnations of the restaurant from brunch to fine dining. This visit, sadly time didn’t allow it. The thing the Coast chain knows how to do very well, from housekeeping to purchasing and front of house, is provide consistent friendly service, follow trends, offer excellence, hire friendly hard working staff, continuously update, and guarantee safety and cleanliness. What more could you ask for?
Arriving late on a rate special, we were very satisfied with the double queen room with view, although it took me by surprise there was no bar fridge. Often there is a need when traveling to chill beverages or food items and the space was there but the fridge wasn’t. I think if I’d had young children with me I would have had to upgrade, however if the bed is like a welcoming haven…I’m not going far in a hurry! They certainly have that right.
In the centre of the beautifully restored downtown core, a variety of very good eateries, my favourite French patisserie, theatre, convention centre, independent shops and galleries. Ask for a room with a harbour view. Underground though unsecured parking is $9 extra.
Thanks old friend. It’s nice to be able to
count on you again.
We were treated very well by the hotel staff and the rooms were excellent. I would recommend you ask for a view room when you go. We stayed 2 nights and were able to enjoy Nanaimo in that time. It is my choice of hotel the next time I go there.
We have stayed here several times but this time booked the king ocean view room, it is absolutely the best hotel room we have ever stayed in. We were in room 1411, it has panoramic views or the harbour and downtown Nanaimo. Even in the rain it was amazing.
