Winter in Wenatchee: Small Town Charm and Big Time Fun!

18/12/2018

Wenatchee is the apple capital of the world, and this charming city in Washington State is the perfect destination to have a fruitful getaway this holiday season. A great playground for outdoor activities, Wenatchee has a lot for you to explore this winter time.

Outdoor Fun in Wenatchee

Spanning 2,000 acres and boasting a 2,250 foot vertical drop, Mission Ridge Ski & Board Resort sets the scene for your ideal winter adventure. With light powder, sun, and amazing views, Mission Ridge has 36 designated runs and an easily accessible backcountry. Located just 12 miles from Wenatchee, there are beautiful trails and terrain the whole family can conquer!

If you're looking for a less hair-raising experience, try the Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trailー. a 10-mile asphalt trail circling the Columbia River. On the Wenatchee side, the trail runs through four riverfront parks while on the East Wenatchee side, it runs along the bluffs. Though the scenery is beautiful in any season, it’s still quite impressive in the winter.

Remember to set aside some time to visit Leavenworth, a Bavarian-style village in the Cascade Mountains with alpine-style buildings. You can get from Wenatchee to Leavenworth in around 30 minutes by car. During your trip to Leavenworth you can also go snow tubing at Leavenworth Ski Hill. Lt. Michael Adams Tubing Park is a great place to take the kids, with a 100-foot tubing hill and a rope tow to pull you to the top! For those who have planned a December getaway, catch the Christmas Lighting Festival on Saturdays and Sundays leading up to Christmas at the Front Street Gazebo in Leavenworth. It truly is a winter wonderland with carolers strolling through town and the smell of chestnuts and hot cocoa filling the air.

On the last day of the year, celebrate the turning of the calendar at Pybus with its annual Apple Drop on New Year's Eve.
