World Championship Bathtub Race

Only an 8-minute walk from Coast Bastion Hotel, Nanaimo’s most legendary summer event makes a splash July 25-27, 2025, with the return of the World Championship Bathtub Race Weekend. This one-of-a-kind tradition dates back to 1967 and now brings racers from across Vancouver Island and beyond to compete in a high-energy 58km ocean course. The festivities span the entire weekend, featuring a lively Saturday parade with racing tubs and the world’s largest bathtub, a Sunday beer garden, and the main event—the Bathtub Race itself. With food trucks, artisan vendors, a Kids Zone, and free live concerts, it’s a fun-filled celebration for all ages. Best of all, admission is free all weekend!
