Ridge Road Heritage Trail

If you love walking, hiking or camping, then the Ridge Road Trail is for you. Aptly named for its 500-metre elevation gain, this trail was built in 1899, it was the first government-built wagon road and was a major supply route to the goldfields. The rugged Ridge Road winds along the high and relatively dry ground between Bonanza and Hunker Creek to historic sites. You can still see the remnants of a once busy highway when hiking along this trail!

This trail is approximately 30km long so plan accordingly! Hikers should allow two days to walk this trail. A campground is within a day of either trailhead.
