Do not stay here!
I’m writing this review with some reflection. My husband and I stayed here in early July. We are relocating from the lower mainland of B.C. to the island and needed a home base for house hunting. I chose the location through an app and that was my first mistake…I was being frugal. BUT that being said it wasn’t even the cheapest room I could have gotten! Anyway, the outside of the hotel was being newly renovated when we arrived. They were rebranding from the Sandcastle Inn to Coast. The lobby was is the midst of being torn apart (keep in mind this is the July long weekend!). You couldn’t even walk into the lobby because they were ripping out the floor. The person on the desk was friendly and put us in a “suite” at no extra charge as the room we originally wanted was not available?? When we got into said “suite” it was a queen bed, a sofa and a kitchenette all crammed in tight to what was once a double queen at some point. The bed was pushed so far into the corner that my husband had to climb in and there was no bedside table in his side. The room was FILTHY. ALL surfaces had something gross on them. The towels and linens were old and tattered. And there was no garbage can. The kitchenette was disgusting and was falling apart. It looked like it had been ripped out of somewhere else and just stuck there. I made the mistake of looking behind the bedside table and discovered weeks of not months of dust and grime. They had clearly tried to renovate somewhat recently but it was done horribly and you could see unpainted patches, shoddy workmanship and cheap fixes (Cup hooks in the back of the bathroom door??). I expressed my concern right away and was told I would be contacted about a couple of options (new room or discount) but I was not. We had prepaid for 10 days so we were stuck. I went to them again after a couple of days and was told the same thing, still nothing. I talked to them again on the last day…told the same thing (someone would call me) still nothing. I called about a week after and was told again that someone would call me. Guess what…nothing. I was patient and polite and I don’t like giving bad reviews. I work in customer service management and so I get it all. However, I truly need to warn travellers to NEVER go to this hotel. If I’d done my due diligence first and read the previous Trip Advisor reviews I would not have been in this situation.
We arrived late in the day after a long days travel. We checked in went into the room, there wasn’t any toilet paper in the room. We wanted to make ourselves a drink and went up to the 3rd floor to get som ice and it was one large lump of frozen ice and couldn’t break it apart went down to the desk and the person there went up up chiseled some ice of for use the when we woke up in the morning and wanted to have a cup of coffee the coffee pot was filthy. It had old mouldy coffe in there which makes a person wonder if the room had been cleaned at all. Very disturbing considering the Covid times we are living in. I went down again and talked to the front desk and they said that the manager would get in touch with us and a week later we still haven’t heard any reply from them. We paid 145.00 for the room and we had booked there because it was a COAST hotel but was the quality of a Super 8 and that is a generous review. Will never go back.! Bad customer relations!
All the staff were incredibly friendly and especially great with my young kids. They remembered our names and always greeted us whenever we seen them. Very nicely renovated and amazingly clean everywhere even the parking lot! We will definitely try to stay here again.
Hotel is a dump
The hotel claims it is renovated but it is not. It was a dirty dump. The pillow cases and sheets were dirty. I had to ask them to change everything infront of me. Would not stay here again. The hallways were dirty and needed a vacuum.
Favourite Hotel in Parksville
The staff are very friendly and the rooms are exceptional. Modern touch to the rooms and lobby make it a very luxurious stay. We will always be back here when in Parksville. We would recommend for a vacation spot.
