Whistler Events to Add to Your Late-Summer and Early Fall Getaway

02/09/2026

Late summer brings a lively mix of Whistler events, from cycling and local markets to gatherings in the Village that carry the season into early fall. September and early October are a great time to enjoy what’s happening around town while there’s still plenty of summer left to experience. There are still summer goals to check off outdoors, while several annual events create an easy reason to plan another weekend in the mountains.
You do not need to build your entire trip around an event, either. Come for a ride, market or festival, then leave enough room to explore the trails, enjoy a long lunch or fit in one more favourite summer activity. Here are a few dates and experiences worth keeping on your radar in 2026.

Late-Summer Whistler Events Worth Adding to Your Calendar

September brings several very different events to Whistler. Some draw visitors specifically for the occasion, while others can simply become part of an already-planned getaway.

On September 12, 2026, the RBC GranFondo Whistler returns to the Sea-to-Sky Corridor. The point-to-point cycling event travels between Vancouver and Whistler, with distance options ranging from 55 to 152 kilometres. Tourism Whistler describes the event as open to riders of all abilities and family-friendly.

Even if you are not participating, GranFondo weekend brings plenty of cycling energy into Whistler. The ride finishes here, making the Village a natural place for participants, friends and family to reconnect afterward.

If someone in your group is riding while others are not, there is no need for everyone to follow the same itinerary. Non-riders can explore the Village, head out on the Valley Trail or plan a relaxed afternoon while waiting for their cyclist to arrive. Riders may prefer to keep the following day flexible, with an easy breakfast and plenty of time to recover before heading home.

For anyone participating, check the official GranFondo information closer to the event. Tourism Whistler notes that the detailed 2026 schedule is still to come, so it is worth confirming logistics before finalizing your plans.

Whistler Village Beer Festival, September 16 to 20

A few days later, the focus shifts from cycling to craft beverages. The Whistler Village Beer Festival runs from September 16 to 20, 2026, with events happening throughout the five-day festival.

The Main Event takes place at Whistler Olympic Plaza on Saturday, September 19. The festival currently lists more than 80 craft beer, cider and seltzer options, alongside live music, food trucks, lawn games and other activities.

The Main Event is strictly for guests aged 19 and older, so this particular outing is better suited to couples, friends and adult groups than families travelling with children. If the festival is part of your weekend plans, booking accommodations within the Village also keeps restaurants and other activities nearby.

Festival events extend beyond Saturday's main tasting, so check the official schedule before visiting. Dinners, tap takeovers, workshops and other programming may be added as the event approaches.

UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, September 25 to 27

Later in the month, Whistler welcomes another major cycling event when the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Downhill comes to town from September 25 to 27, 2026. This marks the event's Whistler debut, bringing some of the world's fastest downhill riders to a destination with deep roots in mountain bike culture.

Whether you're an avid mountain biker or simply curious to see the action up close, you can watch elite downhill athletes compete while taking in the atmosphere surrounding this major event.

Enjoy the energy of race weekend around Creekside, at the Whistler Mountain Bike Park at no cost. Event details are still developing, so visitors planning around the World Cup should check the official schedule closer to their stay for course information, spectator access and event times.

Sundays are for the Whistler Farmers' Market

Not every event requires tickets or a full day on the schedule. The Whistler Farmers' Market continues every Sunday through October 11, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The market takes place along the pedestrian-only Upper Village Stroll at the base of Blackcomb Mountain. Vendors bring together regional food, produce and handmade goods, creating an easy stop for visitors who want to browse without committing to a packed itinerary.

From the centre of Whistler Village, the market is approximately a 10 to 15-minute walk along a paved, pedestrian-friendly route. That makes it easy to combine with breakfast, a walk through the Village or another afternoon activity.

Turn your Farmers’ Market visit into an easy afternoon outdoors by picking up a few local treats and heading toward one of Whistler’s nearby lakes for a picnic. Lost Lake is close to the Village and offers grassy areas, picnic tables and a beach, while Green Lake provides another scenic setting to enjoy the outdoors. Keep the Calendar Open

There’s more to look forward to as September moves into October, with plenty happening in and around the Village.

The calendar does not stop when September ends. On October 3, 2026, the Whistler 50 Relay & Ultra brings runners together for an event centred around Whistler Olympic Plaza and the Lost Lake trail network. Race options range from 10 kilometres to 50 kilometres, with both individual and relay formats designed for a mix of recreational and competitive runners.

You can participate, support someone who is racing or simply enjoy the atmosphere around the Village while runners make their way through the course.

Combined with the Farmers' Market continuing on Sundays through October 11, it gives visitors another reason to keep Whistler on the calendar.
