Fall Traditions and Events to Look Forward to in Whistler
Fall events in Whistler give the season an energy of its own. Friday evenings bring art and wine into the mix, Thanksgiving adds plenty of good food, and Halloween is a community celebration that locals and visitors can enjoy together.
It is also a nice time to experience a different side of Whistler. The pace begins to shift, cooler evenings make dinner reservations even more inviting, and many events around town have a distinctly local feel.
If you are planning a fall getaway, here are a few traditions and experiences worth adding to your plans.
Start the Month With the Whistler Wine Walk

For visitors 19 and older, the Whistler Wine Walk is a great way to spend a Friday evening. Taking place every Friday throughout October, the Wine Walk combines Whistler's gallery scene with BC wine and a relaxed night out. Guests can visit participating galleries, enjoy wine and hors d'oeuvres, and make their way through the Village before finishing at the Audain Art Museum.
With several opportunities to attend, it is easy to work the Wine Walk into a fall getaway. Afterwards, stay out for dinner and make a full evening of it.
Thanksgiving Weekend Brings Plenty to the Table

Thanksgiving weekend falls from October 10 to 12 this year, and with food naturally playing a big part in the celebration, it’s the perfect time to enjoy Whistler’s dining scene. Restaurants around the Village often introduce seasonal menus and holiday specials, so there are options whether you are looking for a traditional turkey dinner, a relaxed brunch or something a little different.
Portobello is one option for a classic Thanksgiving dinner, with its Ultimate Hot Turkey Dinner featuring slow-roasted turkey and all the traditional sides. Its Turkey Dinner To-Go makes things even easier if you would rather bring a ready-made Thanksgiving feast back to your Whistler home base and enjoy the evening there.
Closer to Listel, you will find plenty of restaurants within walking distance, including Bearfoot Bistro right at the hotel. Thanksgiving offerings can vary, so check current menus and make reservations ahead of the holiday weekend. With the meal sorted, you can spend the rest of the weekend enjoying Whistler.
Get Outside Before Thanksgiving Dinner

A good meal tastes even better after some fresh air. Cooler temperatures make Thanksgiving weekend a nice time for a walk or jog along the Valley Trail. The Whistler Turkey Trot adds an active tradition to the weekend. Whether you take part in the run or choose a walk of your own, it is an easy way to spend part of the day outside before settling in for Thanksgiving dinner.

Save Some Room for Fall Shopping

Thanksgiving weekend is also a good time to browse the shops around Whistler. The Whistler Blackcomb Turkey Sale takes place from Friday, October 9 to Monday, October 12, 2026, bringing four days of deals on ski and snowboard gear, outerwear and other winter essentials.
Even if you are not arriving with a shopping list, it can be worth browsing while you are in the Village. Pair it with coffee or lunch and see what catches your eye before continuing with the rest of your Thanksgiving weekend plans.
Then Halloween Takes Over Whistler
As the end of the month approaches, Thanksgiving dinners and fall shopping give way to costumes, candy and one of Whistler's favourite community celebrations.
There are plenty of ways to join in. Families can head out trick-or-treating, while adults will find Halloween parties and events of their own. Staying at Listel also makes it easy to return to your room for a break or costume change before heading back out.
Trick-or-Treat Around Whistler Village

For families with younger kids, trick-or-treating around Whistler Village is an easy way to celebrate while you are visiting. Local businesses traditionally get involved, welcoming costumed kids for treats as families make their way through the pedestrian Village. Previous Halloween programming has included participating businesses throughout the Main Village, Village North, Upper Village and Creekside.
Details can change each year, so check the current Halloween schedule for participating businesses and times before heading out. For Listel guests, getting started could not be much easier. Get everyone into costume at the hotel, step outside and join the fun.
Experience a Local Halloween at Tapley's Farm

For a Halloween tradition with a particularly local feel, head to the Tapley's Farm neighbourhood in Whistler Cay. Tapley's is well known for going all-in on Halloween. Residents decorate their homes and welcome crowds of costumed kids for an evening that has become a longstanding community tradition. The neighbourhood festivities traditionally run through the early evening, with fireworks providing the big finish.
With so many families heading to the same residential area, driving directly into the neighbourhood is not allowed. Instead, look for current information about Whistler's Park and Spook transportation. In previous years, this service has helped families travel to and from the festivities while reducing traffic in the neighbourhood.
For visiting families, Tapley's offers a chance to experience Halloween the way many Whistler locals do. It is less about attending an attraction and more about joining the community for the evening. And if you’re feeling generous, a food drive is usually set up at the entrance for non-parishables.
Halloween Is Not Just for the Kids

Once the trick-or-treat bags are full, the evening does not necessarily have to end. Whistler's restaurants, bars, clubs, and venues often join the celebrations with costume parties, themed evenings and other Halloween events for adults. The Fright Crawl brings Halloween celebrations to 4 major Whistler's bars starting from 7pm to late on October 30 and 31. Expect costumes, live DJs and plenty of Halloween energy as the crawl moves through some of the Village's nightlife hotspots.
If you are planning to join in, grab your costume and book tickets ahead of time. Or keep things simple. Dress up, head out for dinner and see where the evening takes you.
