We had a nice stay at this hotel. First time staying here and we will stay here again. Close to WEM, our whole purpose of coming to Edmonton. Front desk staff were welcoming and polite. Room was clean. No issues.
Not a good stay
We had quite a few problems staying here. We checked in at 3:05am and was charged a late check in fee when we were told there would be none as they don’t do that. Also in the morning the front desk lady was the only person around.. she couldn’t get ahold of housekeeping so therefore that left me going to get my own coffee creamer and waiting almost an hour for towels. I stay here everytime I go to the city…this was by far the worse time

CHEF RAYMOND was Fantastic!! He made our taste testing experience very good. He helped us pick out our menu and was very honest in giving his opinion which we truly appreciate. We had a lot of compliments with the food choices we made. Thanks to Chef Raymond!
Rajesh (Food and Beverage manager) was very accommodating and easy to talk to. He responded to our emails fast and was very helpful in planning our event. Unfortunately, he was not there with a week remaining until our event due to a family emergency. Thus, we had the pleasure of dealing with their General Manger Muhammad. The day before the event and on the day of, he helped us sort through quite a few glitches in the floor plan and was very accommodating in our requests. It was very good to see that he stepped up to the plate and was the one that served the bride and groom on the day of — instead of just “overseeing” and telling people what to do. A good leader has to be a good follower and a good example.
Mary Ann (Front Office Manager) was great to deal with. We had some last minute extensions with the guests that stayed and she was able to help us sort it out which helped in making the guests have a good time and not worry about the drive home after a party.
Daman (exceptional!) and the hotel staff on the day before the wedding and on the day of were great! As mentioned, the floor plan was not what we had planned; however , we were able to work through to together and was able to have a workable floor plan that we believe suited both parties. In those 2 days, stress was at it’s highest and the hotel staff couldn’t be more accomodating, respectful and approachable which we truly appreciate and needed at the time.
Trista (Sales and Service Manager) was good at the beginning and very good at the end. She made the couple feel welcome at our first meeting and provided us with information that we needed to decide on the hotel to celebrate the wedding. However, after we had picked the Coast West Edmonton as our venue, things didn’t seem to pan out as we had thought. The first tasting experience was very disappointing. Wouldn’t one be given the opportunity to taste if not everything, most of the menu as this is the stage where you ‘pick from the menu the best food you would want to serve your guests’. Such is not what we had experienced. We have been ‘corrected’ so much in an email that the word “correction” became so daunting that one would almost want to pull the plug and take our business somewhere else. But since Chef Raymond was at the first taste testing, he made the bride and groom feel at ease that they were convinced to stay with the Coast West Edmonton. Since then, things were not as easy and comfortable as it was. The bride and groom did not feel comfortable (combination of judgement, uneasiness, being looked down upon) on the taste testing day. One would feel like he/she are walking on egg shells everytime we had to deal with her. Fortunately, the day before the wedding and the day of again, she turned around and was more accommodating and approachable (thank God!) as I personally (who is coordinating this event) would have snapped as she would be the last thing I want to deal with all the stress on hand. She did however as mentioned, step up and was listening to our requests and was available when we needed things done. So we were very thankful.
Overall, we would still recommend the venue to others as the great things that happened definitely outweigh the other.
Thanks so much Coast West Edmonton ð
May - June stay at Coast West hotel
Great place, close to West Edmonton Mall, lots of places to eat near by, food at hotel restaurant was good and reasonably priced. $15 cab ride to WestEdmonton Mall (including tip). Shuttle service to Mall would have been nice but not provided. I would stay there again.
Nice Clean Room
This is a very plain jane looking hotel from the outside but the inside has been nicely updated. The room was big and open. Rooms where nicely updated though the ceilings need some work as you can see the patch work and some cracks in them. Otherwise nothing wrong with it. The inn part of the hotel is a long walk so depending on how close you want to stay to the lobby that is a consideration.
