Fall and Winter Activities in Chilliwack

03/10/2018

With summer winding down, it’s time to trade rising temperatures for falling leaves and snow as the colder months of the year approach. While fall and winter conditions mean that you'll have to wear a little more, that doesn't mean you should feel worn out when thinking about what to do during these seasons. In Chilliwack, enjoy autumn's colour with a rainbow of exciting possibilities because there are plenty of fun activities for everyone. Thanks to the many attractions in this unique city, you’ll have reasons to go outside all year long.

Combine food with fun at the Chilliwack Corn Maze and Pumpkin Farm. Available until Halloween, treat your loved ones to a great time by maneuvering through the 12-acre corn maze, going through the pumpkin patch, and taking tractor rides. This wholesome agricultural experience also allows you to meet some farm animals along the way, drive pedal carts, and even jump on a giant jumping pillow! It's an event sure to keep you in the seasonal spirit.

Enjoy beautiful fall walks or hikes

There’s no better way to get your fill of nature before winter than to take a walk on one of these walking and hiking trails. You can stroll along Peach Creek Rotary Trail and even watch the salmon spawning in the protected spawning channel too. There's also the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve, home to heron nesting colonies and scenic trails for you to explore. The herons typically return to nest at the end of February / early March, so remember to mark your calendar for this impressive sighting. To get your blood pumping more, head out to these fantastic spots for fall hiking. Some of our favourites include Bridal Veil Falls, Elk Mountain, Mt. Cheam, Lindeman Lake, and Teapot Hill.

Also a world-class fishing destination, Chilliwack has sturgeon fishing that will bait you in all year long. The mighty Fraser River is the longest river in British Columbia and anglers from around the world come here in search for an exhilarating fishing challenge. Experience the catch of a lifetime and leave with a great story to tell all your friends.
