Disappointing stay

After reading some other reviews of this hotel, it almost seems as if there are two different versions of it. We had booked for four nights, but only stayed for one.The office was not well marked, we went by twice. Our room (suite), at the end of a long hallway, seemed quite dark when we entered because the window didn’t open to the outside but to a closed in balcony. Several stains were quite noticeable on the carpet. No pictures on the walls, There were only three coat hangers in the closet (for a two bedroom suite!!). When my wife started to put some items in the fridge she found the shelves sticky, not clean. The bathroom was quite small, with no counter space, although the sink and fixtures were quite new. The TV was another problem, we could only get TSN, I’m quite familiar with remote controls of various types, but nothing worked, One redeeming feature…the bed was comfortable. The next morning we took stock of the situation and decided to get other accommodation. After a short online search we booked another hotel, that turned out to be very good, at a lower price that also included breakfast. We had stayed at a Coast Hotel earlier, in Victoria BC, that we found to be excellent, both in amenities and service, and this had influenced our choice to stay in Coast Penticton. Unfortunately the Coast Hotel in Penticton did not match those standards.

Lovely, but.....

Penticton is a lovely place to visit whether you are there for outdoor activities or wine touring or other reasons. The Coast Hotel is small but sweet as well. The rooms are very nice, patios or ground level units as your preference dictates, lovely bathrooms with jacuzzi tubs and beautiful rain showers and free wireless, indoor/ outdoor pools; awesome yes? Well yes for the most part; however I found some issues that marred our stay.

Our shower didn’t work the first day, we turned it on, very low pressure took forever to get warm, and then we couldn’t turn it off. The rain shower head never did get warm weirdly enough. Yet at the same time the jacuzzi tub filled with very hot water?? So I had to wash my hair in the tub, but the jets worked very well and helped my stiff neck and back.

My back and neck didn’t like the bed so it was two nights of little sleep and pain. This will not be the case for everyone as my hubby thought it was comfortable.

We reported the shower issues to the lady on the desk and she said it would be fixed, well the rain shower never worked well at all. If you got rain you got cold rain. Little help for sore muscles unfortunately.

The wireless the first night was okay, but second night you could hardly load a web page let alone watch net flicks.

The staff were very friendly and check in and out was a breeze. Pools looked lovely too.

Would I stay here again, not a chance unfortunately.

Great Stay!

Stayed here while in town for a wedding. The room was super clean, was ready for an early check in and the staff were very friendly. The bathroom was beautiful and the bed was fantastic. Overall very happy with our stay.

Could be better

I like Coast hotels but was disappointed with our stay last week.
We paid for a superior room because it had a jetted tub and fridge. Unfortunately the jetted tub never worked during our stay despite reporting it to reception twice.
The room decor was nice and the blinds in the room looked modern, however they did little to block out the light at night time (especially the LED sign out front that flashed every 5 seconds when the picture changed!)
Overall I’d say it was slightly shabby with a broken bath, broken window latch in the bathroom and tiles falling off the hot tub in the indoor pool. With a little TLC this could be a really nice hotel.
