Bay View

We paid a little extra to stay in a room on the bay side of the hotel. We were on the 13th floor, and couldn’t be happier with our room. The bed was very comfortable, the room was larger than most, and had a teeny tiny balcony accessed through a sliding door. There was a chaise lounge where you could lean back and look at the view.

Room was excellent, clean with great views of the harbour. desk personnel were very professional , friendly and accomodating. located in center of city on waterfront. Would always recommend this hotel.

Central and Comfortable

We stayed for three nights while visiting friends in Ladysmith and Nanaimo. We were impressed with the sleek modern deco design (it was a king bed/studio suite). In spite of being so central downtown there were lots of green spaces to access along the promenade. We also went to Newcastle Island and they were happy to have the dog on the little ferry. Much fun. Plan to return soon.

Rooms very nice! Service, ammenities and management terrible

When we got in to the Hotel we were starving from the drive, so we grabbed the cheesies out of the for purchase basket and each ate one. We quickly realized they were stale. As I am pregnant and they are a real cheese product I swiftly checked the expiry date. . .They had been expired since February. I didn’t really think that I would have to worry about eating well expired food at a higher class hotel. My husband went down to tell the front desk. .. talked to the one staff who said ‘ I’ll note to take the cheesies off the bill ‘ in a condescending tone and just turned around and walked away.

My husband had also gone to talk to him prior to this to try and get our tv to work. It was not working at all – just the snow screen. He simply said we could move rooms but they can’t fix it. We were already unpacked so this was not feasible. So we actually got to talk to the other gentleman (Steve I believe) who actually tried to help which was nice. … he gave us the reset instructions. … which did not work but at least he tried. Eventually after messing with it for a while we figured out you can only type in the channels manually, no guide or channel surfing at all. Yet the staff couldn’t just tell us this?? And also – good we didn’t move rooms because that would have been a waste – they all have this problem!

Overall it was a very disappointing stay. .. does not live up to the Coast experiences I have had elsewhere and I leave feeling ‘ ripped off ‘ for a lack of better words. Also, after telling the manager this – I just got a pre-composed email saying that you for your positive and/or negative feedback – I don’t think they even read the email LOL. Too bad because the rooms and location are beautiful – but I won’t support Coast again.

Good Value, Good Location

My wife and I stayed here for two nights in July ‘14. It was a comfortable base for exploring this part of the east coast, and Nanaimo is a pleasant town.

The Coast Inn is well-located just across the street from the old historic fort (be sure to catch the bag pipe player and canon firing at noon), and a short walk down to the waterfront area. There are a number of restaurants and shops nearby. The whole area has been restored and is very attractive.

Our 7th floor room was very pleasant and had a nice view of the waterfront from a small balcony. The room was large and well-appointed, with two comfortable double beds, a built-in closet with safe, a desk and min-bar, and a very large flat-screen tv. The bathroom was attractive, good-sized, and had plenty of counter space. The included wifi worked well.

Parking is extra in an adjoining garage. We had a late dinner in the hotel restaurant when we arrived and it was very good. The front desk personnel were efficient and friendly.

All in all, the Coast Inn was a good value and it fit our needs perfectly. We recommend it.
