Coast Bastion Inn Receives Canada Select Four-Star Rating

Nanaimo, B.C. – May 27, 2009 – On the heels of its extensive $5.2 million guest room renovation, the 179-room Coast Bastion Inn has been upgraded to a four-star Canada Select rating by the Hotel Association of Canada – the only hotel in Nanaimo to hold a four-star rating.

Canada Select is an industry-led, consumer-sensitive rating program developed to provide travellers with a nationally consistent standard of quality for hotels and other accommodation.  Canada Select certified Rating Advisors inspect and rate participating properties to ensure they meet specific consumer expectations. Ratings are based on the extent and quality of facilities, services and amenities and all properties must meet stringent guidelines for cleanliness, comfort and safety.  A star rating from one to five, in ½ star increments, is awarded based on the results of the evaluation.

The Coast Bastion Inn’s recently completed renovation to its 179 guest rooms include new tubs, toilets, vanities, fixtures, lights and tiles in all guest bathrooms.  Refurbished guestrooms also feature new custom designed furnishing, flat screen TV sets in rift cut oak paneling, geometric carpet tiles, back painted glass topped desks, chaise lounges and modern art.  The hotel’s luxurious 420 square foot Jacuzzi Jr. suites with magnificent harbourside views include Jacuzzi’s build for two and spa-themed bath amenities.
